A Full Day Layover in Copenhagen

Cue the magic as you walk up to Tivoli in Copenhagen, Denmark. We stopped at a hot dog stand before we went in and Fierce ordered a Ristet Polse or a classic French hot dog with ketchup and raw onions. He said it was the best hot dog he ever had.

Tivoli is a larger than life carnival. We ran to get in line for a mining car ride that takes you up, down and around a “Alpine mountain.” It has just enough of a stomach drop to keep kids shrieking and laughing at almost the same time. Fierce kept saying, “This is so much fun!” We followed the streets lined with lighted up arches to the Tik Tak where you are strapped into an egg shaped time machine that soars and spins and flips you upside down. Another fun ride placed you in an eagle and you tilted left and right seemingly over the edge of the city until you were a top gun pilot flying upside down. We rode bumper cars and a few other smaller rides until I talked Fierce into doing the largest ride in the park that is more of a mini roller coaster. Just before we got on, he asked why he was doing this? It had all the swirls, ups, downs and 360 circles in a compact ride. After high-fiving our dangerous feat, we headed to the Gondolas for a calmer and surprisingly wonderful time. It was so quaint and peaceful. As it was getting dark, we headed back to Fierce’s favorite ride from the very beginning and he was all smiles the whole time.

We talked about what a great time Tivoli was the whole way back to our hotel. This was definitely the best layover ever!
