Montenegro, You are Beautiful.

The morning started with seemingly boring admin items. I met up with the hotel owner to settle up, return an umbrella, etc. However, we ended up chatting for quite a while over coffee while Fierce had pineapple juice and cereal. This was very sweet, because breakfast is not included with our stay due to the off season booking. Another tid bit that came out was that she had upgraded our small room to a suite with a living room, two bathrooms and a great view. What a blessing! She also recommended that we go to a view up the mountain a ways as well as Queen's Beach. I was so grateful.

I had promised Fierce that we would chill a little at the hotel and honestly, it was raining and I wasn't in a hurry to go out either. When the weather did clear up, we decided to try the hike up the mountain. Ya...part of the way we had to walk along the main roadway. Totally stressed, after going only a few feet, we ducked into a restaurant. Wait, what...there is an open restaurant??? Nice! It was a really nice place with an incredible view of the coast. I love happy mistakes. Fierce ordered pancakes with mixed berries and I had a spinach and asparagus soup. My lunch was creamy and delicious.

I asked the waiter for directions to the lookout point and he showed me that it was an hour walk with complicated directions and I just said, "Fierce, we are going to the beach."

Instead of going up, we headed down. The sort of fun thing about making your way to the beach here is that you just follow these stone paths that open to little side roads and just a few feet to the left or right will be another set of stone steps and you just keep zig/zagging down until you reach the beach. It's actually easier than it looks.

We walked along the same path as yesterday, except that we went right up to the gate of the island with the red roofs. The waves were almost calm today so we were able to walk more of the beach. However, after saying that, I did try to get a close up to the waves and ended up falling back on myself as I tried unsuccessfully to run back and away from a wave reaching out to touch my shoes and soak one of my socks.

Fierce threw rocks or "Backugans" into the Adriatic as we continued our walk. Soon, we came to Milocer Beach. This is where we gave up our trek yesterday so it was nice to take it in and explore. At the very back of it, is a path through a "cave" in the rock and brings you to a tiled lookout between the rocks. It sort of rewards your curiosity with beauty.

If you continue the garden path, you will end up at the most beautiful beach with rich, aqua water. Queens Beach is smaller than the others, but when you are the only one there, it feels like it is your own private gem. I had promised Fierce that I would Baku-battle with him, so I did try, but I was definitly distracted taking in the views. We decided to sit down for a while and build fortresses in the red, rocky sand. One rain drop fell on a rock I placed on top of my tower and then two and then it came down with a vengeance. I handed Fierce our umbrella and I threw on a poncho and we made our way back. It was still sunny in places, so I knew it wouldn't last long. Soon, it subsided and as we rounded a corner, I looked back on Milocer Beach and there was a very distinct rainbow right above a hotel. What a lovely gift to end our explorations for the day.

Back at the hotel, we enjoyed our balcony and relaxed before jet setting again tomorrow.
