Pumpkin Painting Party!

This is the 3rd year I have thrown a pumpkin painting party and this year, one of the girls had a special announcement…She is having a little girl!

The evening had a festive fall flair. My sister, Lynnae, brought pumpkin spice muffins; my friend, Kacie, brought a whole spread of cheeses from The Cheese Lady and pumpkin spice tea; and I made pumpkin spice lattes. Everything was so delicious.

There is a fine dusting of gold glitter in my dining room and gorgeous pumpkins as a result. My sister should definitely get an award for hers, it is absolutely beautiful. There were plenty of pumpkins to be painted because Palmbos Farm gave me five white pumpkins for our party. I had shown up to purchase a few, but they had just sold all of them to a farmer for his animals so the owners went out picked pumpkins and wouldn’t take my money. May God bless them, I really appreciated them going out of their way for our girl’s night. What a blast, I can’t wait for next year!

A Very Happy Birthday to Me

Wes took me to Saugatuck for my birthday this year. We ate dinner at the Belvedere Inn. It is a beautiful old house that has been converted into a restaurant. The food was really delicious. Not only was the Filet Mignon ‘melt in your mouth’ good, but the broccoli and potato gratin were also delicious. How often do you remember the sides you had with dinner? I was also gifted both of my hands to eat dinner with…My Mom and Dad were really sweet and drove out to Saugatuck and took Fierce for a walk around the stores while we ate. They also left some birthday money for me to go shopping with the next day. Thanks Mom and Dad!

After picking up Fierce again, we headed to Newnham SunCatcher Inn. It was the cutest little Victorian house with stain glass in each window. Our suite was on the main floor and super cute with all of the old fashioned decorations. The owners were very personable and the breakfast they served the next morning was tasty. We had a meaty omelet, a carrot cake muffin and a fruit bowl along with orange juice and coffee. Fierce sat on my lap and stole all the attention from the other guests seated at the table.

Full and so completely spoiled, we went shopping around the quaint town to top off the weekend. It is really fun to find clothing in Saugatuck because most of the boutiques have unique items that once they sell out, the items are not replaced. I purchased an adorable pair of black gloves and also a black lace skirt perfect for the fall weather. I can’t wait to wear them!

Thank you Wes for a great birthday getaway!

Pumpkin Painting

The girls came over to my house last night to paint pumpkins. I love how each of these women can put a smile on my face. Sam and her sister Stephanie brought Paleo muffins. They were awesome and a totally new thing for me. In case you are like me and don’t know, they are made with all natural ingredients. Sam and Stephanie painted their pumpkins to be metallic and then added exactly one gem. The gems were Lynnae’s idea. She and her friend Karlee painted their pumpkins metallic and then wrote: “Give Thanks” in gemstones. Adorable! I found out Karlee likes to travel, so she is automatically one of my new best friends đŸ˜‰ JoDe also brought something I have never tried, a red wine called Apothic Dark.  It was delicious and had a bit of a cinnamon taste. She was smart and bought fake pumpkins so they could last for many seasons.  Kalee and Steph both surprised me and made it to the party even though they both had thought it wouldn’t be possible. Kalee painted 3 petite pumpkins all metallic gold and they looked deliciously classy. Steph painted her pumpkin gold as well, but gave it a texture using rose patterned nylons I had seen in Martha Stewart Living Magazine. Steph was also able to stay late and catch up on life, which I just loved. I bought over-sized white pumpkins and spray painted sections of it orange also using the rose patterned nylons. It turned out ok, but not the best. I had such a blast getting together with these girls, each one is such a strong and beautiful woman. I hope we get to make this a new tradition for years to come.

Knockout Facials

This week, I got to have the most AMAZING facial at Knockout. Absolutely WAY better than any I have had before. Lynnae gave me a full one hour facial complete with shoulder massage. I especially appreciated her giving me a sensory test so that I could pick out which oil scent matched my mood. I chose active which smelled flowery and from there she sent me into a blissful state of relaxation. When I arrived home, I had a cup of tea and crawled directly into bed!

Lynnae Kalawart is the expert, so I will let her tell you about the products she used or better yet, give her a call!
