A Change of Plans: London

Woke up, saw the sun twinkling through a slit in the curtain and knew before I checked my phone that we overslept. Sure enough we were not going to make it to Stonehenge today with enough time to enjoy it fully.

I have already seen it back in my uni days so I wasn't overly disappointed to suggest we go shopping. I also sweetened the deal and said Fierce could go through my guidebook and pick what he wanted to do afterwards. He chose the Science Museum.

With our choices made, we headed to our breakfast spot on the corner by our hotel for another full English Breakfast. Fierce likes it so much, that we haven't ordered anything else. It's such a large portion, we can easily split and have leftovers. Yum!

I asked Fierce if he could navigate the underground to get to our destination station. He did such a good job!

As we emerged from the depths we headed to Harrods because if I can only get away with one store, it might as well be a beautiful department store. We walked around taking in all of the fabric treasures and the ornate ambiance. In the end, our Harrods bag was filled with a Pokemon purchase. I would like to find a cute shirt at some point, so Fierce will probably end up doing a bit more shopping later this week...don't tell him.

To both of our surprise, the Science Museum was incredibly close to Harrods, so we walked directly there. I absolutely loved the Take Flight exhibit. Look up and airplanes that actually flew in the sky from all points in flight history are suspended above your head. To your left and right, you are emmersed in plane engines, propellers and all objects, flight. Just beyond this exhibit, Fierce had a ton of fun in the interactive Engineer Your Future exhibit. It was done in a video game style. At one station, we drew our own design for a Mars rover around an engine on the screen. Then we could add up to eight weels anywhere we wanted and then hit the launch button. Our rovers appeared on the large screen in front of us along with 3 or 4 other peoples' designs and they were put to the test on Mars' surface. If yours didn't do well, you could redesign it and try again until you made a rover that could go further than the last. I think we could have been here for a very long time. Fierce even asked if we could find a game like this at home. So fun!

We headed back to the hotel neighborhood after this to grab dinner. I had full intentions of getting fish and chips, but at the restaurant, you had to order with a QR code and I don't have an international plan on my phone so we just kept walking towards our hotel until we found a restaurant that looked good. The Persian restaurant caught our eye so we ordered the most delicious food. There was a lamb, chicken and beef kabob with a gorgeous salad. I also ordered a garlic yogurt and flat bread. It was a very happy change of plans.

We leave London for Montenegro tomorrow. It's been lovely and we'll be back soon!
